females) of age group ranging from 70 to 80 years were dissected in the department of Anatomy at K.J. Somaiya Medical
College, Sion, Mumbai, INDIA. The variant formation of median nerve was observed in 2 specimens. The musculo - vascular
pattern in the arm was also observed. The photographs of the variation of the formation of median nerve were taken for proper
documentation. The variant formation of median nerve by three lateral roots was observed in 2 specimens. The findings were
noted after thorough and meticulous dissection of the upper limbs of both sides (axilla, arm, forearm and palm) of 50 cadavers.
The variations were unilateral and there was no associated musculo-vascular variation. The presences of such type of variations
are clinically important for surgeons, orthopaedicians and anaesthetist performing pain management therapies on the upper
limb.
<Email>drspsawant@gmail.com</Email><articletype>Research</articletype><volume>5</volume><issue>1</issue><year>2015</year><keyword>Axilla,Brachial plexus,,Median Nerve,Multiple Roots,Pain Management Therapies</keyword><AUTHORS>Sharadkumar Pralhad Sawant</AUTHORS><afflication>Professor and Head, Department of Anatomy, K.J.Somaiya Medical College, Somaiya Ayurvihar, Eastern Express Highway, Sion, Mumbai-400 022, Maharashtra, India</afflication></Article></Articles>
