Objectives: The main
objective is to compare clinical and socio demographic profiles in schizophrenia and depression patients. Methods: This is a
Prospective cross- sectional observational study, 60 schizophrenia patients as well as 60 depression patients attending
psychiatry department of Government general hospital included in this study. The study begins with these lection of patients
based on inclusion and exclusion criteria. Then both the patients analyzed for socio demographic and clinical profiles. The
severity of the schizophrenia and depression were assessed using the PANSS and Ham-D scales respectively. Results: In this
study, among schizophrenia male (56.6%) were predominant and among depression, female (55%) were predominant. Both
schizophrenia and depressive patients were equally promote same age groups (30-39).Most of the subjects were married 103
(85.8%), had primary education 62 (51.67%) and were employed 68 (57%). Socio-economic status among the schizophrenia
and depression patients were compared (P value= 0.0209). Most of the patients were lower middle class 92(77%).Family history
was present in the total of 27 (22.5%) patients. Clinical profiles are compared between the schizophrenia and depression patients
(P value=0.015). Most of the schizophrenia patients 22 (37%) has moderate type and most of the depression patients 31 (57%)
has severe depression. Conclusion: This study concludes that socio demographic and clinical profiles must be considered in
the clinical setting to evaluate suicidal tendencies, family history and other comorbidities in schizophrenia and depression
