<?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?><Articles><Article><id>139</id><JournalTitle>CIPROFLOXACIN INDUCED ALLERGIC REACTION: A CASE REPORT</JournalTitle><Abstract>A 31year of female patient with 8 week 6 days of G1P0L0A0 obstetric status were admitted in gynecology department
of tertiary care teaching hospital with chief complaints of sever back pain, abdominal pain and vaginal bleeding. Patient had
history of passage of flesh mass. There was no history of Hypertension, Diabetes Mellitus and Asthma. On admission patient
was conscious and oriented. Vaginal examination by USG pelvis shows uterus was 8 week and 6 days with OS closed and
product of conception was felt in uterus. Patient diagnosed to have incomplete abortion. On admission patient symptoms
were managed with Inj. Tranexamic acid (1g) Intravenous in 100 ml NS stat and Inj. Tramadol Hydrochloride 50mg stat.
second day onwards patient were treated with Tab Misoprostol 100mcg/vaginum/day for expelling of the retained product
from uterus. On third day after examination D and C were suggested, for that prophylactic antibiotic treatment was started
with Inj. Ciprofloxacin 200mg/ 100ml. after the first dose of ciprofloxacin immediately patient presented allergic reaction all
over the body, face and palm associated with itching, rashes and breathlessness. Suddenly stopped the medication and treated
with Inj. Chlorpheneramine Maleate25mg/2ml and Inj. Dexamethasone 8mg IV stat. The anaphylactic reactions are rare
adverse drug reaction of Ciprofloxacin and other Fluroquinolone. Medical practitioner and other Para-medical staff should be
aware of this potentially fatal event to avoid possible adverse drug event due to cross sensitivity among Fluroquinolone
