garcinii (Burm. f.) C.B. Clarke. The preliminary phytochemical analysis was conducted by Harborne method. The
preliminary phytochemical analysis of Ctenolepis garcinii (Burm.f) C.B. Clarke showed the presence of fourteen
different types of secondary metabolites such as anthrocyanin, alkaloids, steroids, tannins, saponnins, flavonoids,
quinones, glycosides, cardiac glycoside, terpenoids, phenols, anthroquinone, phlobatannins and coumarins were
reported in the various extracts including methanol, chloroform and benzene. From the observation, it was
concluded that the different extracts of Ctenolepis garcinii (Burm.f) C.B. Clarke show the presence of a number of
active secondary metabolites. Hence this report may lead to the isolation and characterization of these active
secondary metabolites for bioefficacy and bioactivity.
<Email>johnarock2008@yahoo.com</Email><articletype>Research</articletype><volume>7</volume><issue>1</issue><year>2017</year><keyword>Phytochemical,Alkaloids,Ctenolepis garcinii,Harborne,Metabolites</keyword><AUTHORS>John Peter Paul J,Sakunthala M</AUTHORS><afflication>Centre for Advanced Research in Plant Sciences (CARPS), Research Department of Botany, St. Xavier’s College (Autonomous), Palayamkottai - 627 002, Tamil Nadu, India,Centre for Advanced Research in Plant Sciences (CARPS), Research Department of Botany, St. Xavier’s College (Autonomous), Palayamkottai - 627 002, Tamil Nadu, India</afflication></Article></Articles>
